My Approach

I’m a pretty open book when it comes to my process, my work style, and my fees. While each project is unique, I group most engagements into one of the following categories: Evaluate, Build, and Grow.

It’s natural and common for business owners to ask me to jump straight to “Grow.” I get it. You need more memberships, more revenue, more customers, etc. As a business owner, so do I.

Launching urgent marketing activities without a strategy may feel like a shortcut to growth. But shortcuts usually fall, well…short.

I want both of us to be successful, so I focus on building a solid foundation for your immediate and future marketing efforts. This isn’t code for going slowly. It means, we spend money and effort within the context of an overall plan so we can more accurately measure and manage to goals.

I chose Citrus Marketing because it feels zesty and fun. Orange is an invigorating and optimistic color and symbolizes fresh starts. Orange juice is, after all, associated with mornings and the possibilities that lie ahead. I took this picture in the morning at the Campo de’ Fiore Market in Rome.

I take pride in providing fresh insights and creativity to clients—hence the tagline, “Fresh Pressed Ideas.”

Core Marketing & Design Services

Doing it the right way doesn’t mean the long way. I work quickly, skipping formality and bureaucracy in favor of the agile methods I learned by working with startups: create, test, learn, adapt. Then adopt what works.

For transparency, I’ve included example starting fees and typical duration.
My fees include analysis, strategy, and the work—creative, design, content, etc.!

EVALUATE
Marketing Audit

For most clients, I recommend starting our work with a Marketing Audit. This includes a data-driven analysis of where your brand sits in relation to your location, industry, or competition and an evaluation of your current brand and creative assets. The data injects objectivity into my process, but my evaluation will be informed by 25+ years of marketing and creative direction expertise.

BUILD
Content & Creative

With our Marketing Audit complete, we have a solid understanding of the current state of your business’ marketing and brand health.

From here, we can start small or go big, depending on your growth goals, budget, and resources. The build phase includes fixing brand and digital presence issues uncovered in the audit and building a creative, and content rich foundation that can support your sales and marketing objectives.

GROW
Manage & Adapt

With your content, focus, and assets in a great place, there’s no limit to the marketing and sales processes you can layer on your stable foundation. Depending on your industry’s unique opportunities and environment, you can stack lead generation programs, product development, high-impact events, brand activities, employee recruitment and development, and sales operations, and more.

  • Need a brand presence in the form of a 2-3 page website and social media assets? Human-created (me!), not AI. I can set up a simple site with effective messaging, informed by search data.

  • Do you have a bespoke event, sale, or theme to promote? I’ve designed unique campaigns from teaser reels for an author’s book launch, to t-shirts for bike races and engineering summits. I like clients who want to break the mold, push boundaries, or use humor.

I can provide creative direction for logos, brand/identity design, and more.

  • It can be helpful to have an external person to inspire or organize your internal capabilities. I draw upon my executive leadership and brand building experience to lead workshops and/or teams.

  • You’ve built your brand and creative assets. Now what? I’ve worked for so many startups where I’ve built marketing programs and operations from the ground up. Let’s find some leads and nurture them.
